RoboCup Soccer Leagues

چکیده
R oboCup was created in 1996 by a group of Japanese, American, and European artificial intelligence and robotics researchers with a formidable, visionary long-term challenge: By 2050 a team of robot soccer players will beat the human World Cup champion team. At that time — the mid 1990s — there were very few effective mobile robots, and the Honda P2 humanoid robot had just been presented to the public for the first time. The RoboCup challenge, set as an adversarial game between teams of autonomous robots, was therefore a fascinating and exciting development as well as a reference problem for AI. 1 RoboCup introduced three robot soccer leagues, Simulation , Small Size, and Middle Size, and organized its first competitions at the 1997 International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, held in Nagoya, Japan. It had a surprisingly large number (100!) of participants. From those modest n RoboCup was created in 1996 by a group of Japanese, American, and European artificial intelligence and robotics researchers with a formidable, visionary long-term challenge: By 2050 a team of robot soccer players will beat the human World Cup champion team. In this article, we focus on RoboCup robot soccer, and present its five current leagues, which address complementary scientific challenges through different robot and physical setups. Full details on the status of the RoboCup soccer leagues, including league history and past results, upcoming competitions, and detailed rules and specifications are available from the league homepages and wikis.

Is that Robot Allowed to Play in Human Versus Robot Soccer Games - Laws of the Game for Achieving the RoboCup Dream
Many RoboCuppers share a dream: a team of fully autonomous humanoid robot soccer players that is capable of playing soccer games against human players by 2050. The demonstration of a human versus robot soccer game at RoboCup 2007 was an exciting display of the progress that has been in RoboCup community since 1997 in terms of the robot’s autonomy, sensing ability, and physical features. This ga...
متن کاملTowards a League-Independent Qualitative Soccer Theory for RoboCup
The paper discusses a top-down approach to model soccer knowledge, as it can be found in soccer theory books. The goal is to model soccer strategies and tactics in a way that they are usable for multiple RoboCup soccer leagues, i.e. for different hardware platforms. We investigate if and how soccer theory can be formalized such that specification and execution is possible. The advantage is clea...
متن کاملOn Standardization in the RoboCup Soccer Humanoid Leagues
From 2008 on, the RoboCup competitions are going to host four distinct humanoid robot soccer leagues: the Standard Platform League (using the Nao robot of Aldebaran Robotics), the KidSize League (custom robots smaller than 60cm), the 3D Soccer Simulation League, and the TeenSize League (custom robots larger than 100cm). Currently, each of these leagues defines their own rule framework and resea...
متن کاملOn the Progress of Soccer Simulation Leagues
Soccer simulation league is one of the founding leagues of RoboCup. In this paper we discuss the past, present and planned future achievements and changes. Also we summarize the connections and inter-league achievements of this league and provide an overview of the community contributions that made this league successful.
متن کاملRoboCup - 2000 The Fourth Robotic Soccer
(RoboCup-2000) was held from 27 August to 3 September 2000 at the Melbourne Exhibition Center in Melbourne, Australia. In total, 83 teams, consisting of about 500 people, participated in RoboCup-2000, and about 5000 spectators watched the events. RoboCup-2000 showed dramatic improvement over past years in each of the existing robotic soccer leagues (legged, small size, mid size, and simulation)...
